Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

(Based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors)

The Indonesian Journal of Fish Processing Technology (IJFPT) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement describes the ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher involved in the publication process of IJFPT.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors should present an accurate, clear, and objective account of the research performed, as well as an unbiased discussion of its significance. Data must be reported honestly, without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation. Sufficient detail and references should be provided to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are considered unethical and unacceptable. Manuscripts must comply with the journal’s submission guidelines.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is entirely original. All sources used must be properly cited and acknowledged. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism and redundant publication, is strictly prohibited. IJFPT applies plagiarism screening to all submitted manuscripts in accordance with its Plagiarism Policy.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Manuscripts describing essentially the same research should not be published in more than one journal. Any overlapping or related publications must be clearly disclosed and properly cited.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Authors must appropriately acknowledge all sources of data, ideas, and findings used in the research. Publications that have significantly influenced the reported work should be cited.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All individuals who meet these criteria should be listed as authors. Contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the research results or interpretation. All sources of financial support should be clearly stated in the manuscript.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

If the research involves hazardous chemicals, procedures, or equipment, these must be clearly identified in the manuscript. Studies involving human or animal subjects must comply with relevant ethical standards and regulations.

Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions

Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts are accepted for publication based on the peer review evaluation, the scientific merit of the work, and its relevance to the journal’s scope. Editorial decisions must be fair, unbiased, and independent of commercial or personal interests.

Peer Review Management

Editors ensure that each manuscript undergoes an appropriate and fair peer review process. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and absence of conflicts of interest. The peer review process is conducted in accordance with the journal’s Peer Review Policy.

Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit without discrimination based on gender, race, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation of the authors.

Confidentiality

Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and related communications. Unpublished materials disclosed in a manuscript must not be used by editors for their own research without the written consent of the authors.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not handle manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest. Any potential conflicts must be disclosed and managed appropriately.

Duties of Reviewers

Confidentiality

Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not share or discuss them with others without authorization from the editor.

Objectivity and Quality of Review

Reviews should be conducted objectively and constructively. Reviewers should provide clear comments supported by arguments that help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and notify the editor of any substantial similarity between the manuscript under review and other published or submitted works.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and decline to review manuscripts where such conflicts exist. Privileged information obtained through peer review must not be used for personal advantage.

Promptness

Reviewers should complete their reviews within the agreed timeframe. If a delay is unavoidable, reviewers should promptly inform the editor.

Duties of the Publisher

The publisher of IJFPT is committed to ensuring that all stages of the publication process adhere to ethical and professional standards. The publisher supports editorial independence, facilitates ethical oversight, and ensures that commercial considerations do not influence editorial decisions.
